The Best Technology for Treating Solid Drilling Waste
Scott Energy's Firmus® and DuroSM Processes use Solidification/Stabilization (S/S) Technology to treat drilling waste and use the recycled material to construct lease roads, drilling pads, and tank batteries. By utilizing this technology, Scott builds extremely durable roads and pads - with a compressive strength of at least 100 psi - while reducing oil and gas companies' costs, risk and liability.
WHAT IS SOLIDIFICATION/STABILIZATION (S/S)?
S/S is a proven, field technology Scott Energy uses to treat solid drilling waste. Initially, S/S was used in the U.S. to safely manage the waste byproducts of weapons-grade plutonium. Scott uses S/S technology to reduce the environmental impacts associated with drilling waste.
HOW DOES S/S WORK?
S/S uses a two-pronged approach to treat contaminated material. The technology physical immobilizes material while also chemically binding the contaminants. This combination treats drilling waste to reduce leaching and provides an environmentally safe way to handle drilled cuttings.
WHAT MATERIALS CAN S/S LOCK-UP?
By utilizing S/S, Scott can treat inorganic contaminants typically found in drilled cuttings such as salts and metals, including arsenic, cadmium, chromium, copper, lead, mercury, nickel, selenium, uranium and zinc; and organic contaminants such as hydrocarbons. For this reason, S/S is the best method to handle drilled cuttings.
WHAT DOES S/S CREATE?
When Scott uses S/S, the result is a low-strength concrete. This is ideal for creating drilling pads, lease roads, and tank batteries.
